Charles "Chuck" Schumer was born into a Jewish family. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 23, 1950. Charles Schumer has a solid background in education. During his younger years, he attended James Madison High School and graduated as a valedictorian. For college, he went to Harvard for an undergraduate degree. During his undergraduate studies he became very intrigued with politics. After his undergraduate degree, he went into Harvard's Law School. Schumer was not heavily into the law scheme of things, instead he was interested in politics. He decided to run for New York State Assembly and he ended up winning the election in 1974. In 1980, he ran for an empty seat in the House of Representatives and won. He was re-elected that position eight times. In 1998, he ran for the Senate position and has been there ever since. |
